1) You can use as many characters as you think you can handle, but keep in mind that role playing is different is different than writing a book. It can be harder than you'd think to remember the conversations they're in, who they're interacting with, what they're doing in the fight, or even where they're standing in the room. Start off with one or two characters, then work your way up from there. Also, it gets surprisingly easy to have your characters only interact with themselves in a little corner and ignore everyone else's. Even if by some miracle you're the best I've ever seen at juggling characters, at least have consideration for the rest of us mere mortals, who can't memorize the names and descriptions of umpteen characters at once. This leads me to the restricting part of this rule: Only introduce one character at a time. Give us a little time to get used to them, then bring in your other characters.
2) No GMing (god-moding) or PPing (power playing). It's up to your imagintion which means which, but basically one is controlling other's characters (a HUGE no no that can and will earn you a time out) and the other is having an ultra-powerful and/or invincible character. This offense will earn you my wrath, as it is my biggest pet peeve in ANY form of writing. In other words, I don't care how skilled your character is with the ancient art of toothpick wielding. In a one or two against twenty fight, I think it's fairly obvious who the winner is. My logic for this is that believe it or not, the royal guard isn't made up of a bunch of idiots with no fighting skills. It may just be me, but I think they may or may not have to learn how to, oh, I don't know, fight before going onto the battle field? Crazy, I know. But as this is my rule page, crazy as it may seem, I'm telling you to at least try to make the fight scenes realistic. Pwease?
3) During roleplays, use "ooc" when you have something to say "out of character" and "bic" when you're "back in character". For example:
ooc/ Hey, everyone needs to check their PMs.
bic/ While outwardly smiling at the king, Xena let her mind drift off to a paradise where she was repeatedly killing the man in several... colorful... ways. Strangling, poison, fire, bombs, beating him with a rubber chicken... the thoughts turned her fake smile into a genuine one that made her act all the more believable.
4) Do your best to check over your spelling and grammar. I'm not some kind of evil correct English tyrant, I promise you. There's only a punishment of twenty lashes for each mistake. I know some admins that hand out at least thirty.
5) Before getting started in the official plot, introduce your character to all of us on the Characters Profile board. If you're not sure what to put up, just look my my character and follow the leader.
6) And last but not least, I'm extremely fickle, so this page will probably be updated from time to time with new rules. I'll pm (private message) everyone to let them know what it is, but check up here from time to time in case I forget.
